How to extract PULSE report and MOVE report data from Bloomerang

This will guide users of the Bloomerang software platform in compiling data required to complete a PULSE report or MOVE report.

The PULSE Report takes the "generosity pulse" or your organization by showing aggregate changes in giving to your organization over the last three years. The MOVE Report shows givers who are "making a move," either increasing their giving or decreasing their giving, this year compared to last year and the relative impact of those moves. To generate either report we will need a list of all giving transactions to your organization over a defined time period.

Extracting Data from Bloomerang

  1. Log into your Bloomerang account with a user role that has access to giving data and reports.
  2. In the left-hand menu, click Reports.
  3. Click New Report.
  4. Select Transactions as the report type. This pulls every donation, pledge payment, recurring gift, soft credit, etc. depending on your configuration.
  5. Set the date filter to cover the last 3 years of giving.
  6. In the report builder, make sure to select the following fields: Donor ID, Transaction Date, Amount
  7. Run the report to confirm the data looks correct.
  8. In the upper-right corner, click Export.
  9. Choose CSV or Excel.
  10. Download the file.

Uploading Data to Generis

  1. Fill out this form and upload the file you just downloaded in step 10 above. 
  2. Your Generis consultant will review your data and run a Pulse/Move analysis. When the analysis is complete, he/she will contact you for followup.
